What’s new in TOGAF 9.2?

The TOGAF Standard, a standard of The Open Group, is a proven Enterprise Architecture methodology and framework used by the world’s leading organizations to improve business efficiency. Developed in 1995, TOGAF has been updated regularly throughout the years to keep current with new approaches and developments in enterprise architecture and technology management. TOGAF 9 was introduced in 2009 and TOGAF 9.1 was implemented in June 2012. The most recent update, TOGAF 9.2, was released in April 2018.

The TOGAF 9.2 standard is an update to the TOGAF 9.1 standard providing improved guidance, correcting errors, improving the document structure, and removing obsolete content. Key enhancements made in this version include updates to the Business Architecture and the Content Metamodel. All of these changes make the TOGAF framework easier to use and maintain.

The following significant changes have been made to the TOGAF standard: 

  • The TOGAF manual has been broken down into a modular structure 
  • Clearer definitions and more terminology have been added 
  • The Content Metamodel unit has had a significant update 
  • The Business Architecture unit has been expanded and developed
